VENTURA, CA — Manuel Huerta posted a top-five finish as the University of La Verne men's golf team opened conference play at SCIAC No. 1.

Huerta took fourth individually after leading the Leopards for the second time this spring. He opened with a hot start in round one, posting a 68 (-4) with four birdies in the back nine to end the day in second place. He shot a 74 (+2) with three more birdies on day two.

Shreyas Kumaresh ended the tournament at +8 after shooting a 76 in each round to finish in the top-25. Caleb Ruchaber shot up 12 spots on the leaderboard in round two after shaving off four strokes with a 75, aided by three birdies.

David Cho (+11) finished the weekend with two birdies, and Lincoln Sinclair (+16) added one.

The Leopards took sixth overall. 

The Leopards return to action on March 16 at the CLU Kingsmen Invitational hosted at Moorpark Country Club.
