LA VERNE, CA — Joshua Simonton has been named the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced on Monday.

Joshua Simonton delivered a strong two-game performance in goal for the Leopards, making a combined 12 saves across contests against Occidental and Chapman. Against Occidental on Sept. 16, the goalkeeper faced 23 shots and recorded six saves. Simonton followed that performance with another six saves on 16 shots against Chapman on Sept. 19, helping La Verne secure a 2-1 victory. His play between the posts provided a key defensive presence as the Leopards earned the win over Chapman.

Up next, the Leopards return to the pitch for back-to-back games on the road against Redlands on Wednesday at 7 P.M., and Cal Lutheran on Saturday at 1 P.M.
