LA VERNE, CA - The dominance continues. For the sixth week in a row, the University of La Verne women's volleyball team holds firm at No. 1 in the nation in the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division III Poll, released Tuesday morning.
La Verne opened the week with a convincing 3-0 win over Whittier on Tuesday night inside The Tents. The Leopards hit .264 as a team and totaled 12 blocks, led by Mya Ray's 18 kills and 12 digs in another all-around performance. The momentum carried into Friday's matchup at Pomona-Pitzer, where the Leopards posted a .319 hitting percentage and held the Sagehens to just .134 en route to a 3-1 victory. Ray again powered the offense with 18 kills and 5 block assists, while Zacky Coaston and Ray combined for 12 blocks at the net to pace the defense.
The week culminated in a statement sweep over No. 19 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday night, solidifying La Verne's spot atop the national rankings. The Leopards displayed poise and balance throughout the match, improving their record to 20-0 overall and 11-0 in SCIAC play. With the win, La Verne remains one of the few undefeated teams in the nation and continues to showcase the depth, chemistry, and composure that have fueled its run
Junior outside hitter Mya Ray has been at the center of it all, recently earning her second AVCA Division III National Player of the Week honor after recording 56 kills, 32 digs, seven blocks, and three aces over the three matches. Supported by the leadership of setter Vanessa Marquez and middle blocker Lauren Gott, along with key contributions from Zacky Coaston, Malia Capistrano, and Keilani Mumolo, the Leopards' lineup continues to showcase exceptional depth and one of the most balanced attacks in the nation.
Under Head Coach Jeff Hendershot, La Verne has built a culture of consistency and determination that keeps the team firmly in the national spotlight. The Leopards now look ahead to another stretch of conference play as they aim to remain unbeaten and carry their momentum into the final weeks of the regular season.

The Leopards hit the road tonight, Tuesday, October 28 at 7 p.m., for a conference matchup against California Lutheran before returning home on Friday, October 31 at 7 p.m. to face Caltech inside The Tents.
