LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne Softball team received three All-SCIAC awards on Wednesday. Briana Vasquez was named to the All-SCIAC First Team, while Kylee Knight and Allie Colenzo were honored with Second Team bids. The big three helped propel the Leopards to their first SCIAC Tournament appearance since 2022.

Vasquez was the ace of the staff for the Leopards. The righty made 24 appearances and logged 129 innings of work. She recorded 10 wins and tossed 13 complete games, showcasing her durability and consistency throughout the year. Vasquez posted an impressive 2.60 ERA and 1.41 WHIP while limiting opposing hitters to a .254 batting average against. She also totaled 53 strikeouts and allowed just 48 earned runs.
Colenzo put together a strong season, appearing in 40 games and serving as a steady contributor at the plate. Colenzo recorded 35 hits and19 runs in 105 at-bats. She also displayed patience at the plate with 12 walks and added a spark on the bases with 6 stolen bases. Colenzo finished the year with a solid .333 batting average, a .440 on-base percentage, and a .390 slugging percentage.
Knight also anchored the outfield in 40 games played. The junior tallied 39 hits and scored 20 runs in 114 at-bats, including 7 doubles and 3 triples, while driving in 16 RBIs. Knight concluded the season with a strong .342 batting average, along with a .355 on-base percentage and .456 slugging percentage.
The Leopards will look to continue their success, as they open SCIAC Tournament play on Friday, May 8, at 3 p.m. against Chapman University. Friday's game, along with the rest of the tournament, will be hosted at the University of Redlands.
