LA VERNE, CA — University of La Verne Director of Athletics Dr. Jenna Panatier has announced the resignation of
Nathalie da Silva as the Director of Golf Operations and Head Coach of the men's and women's golf programs.
"I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible opportunity I have had over the past three years, said da Silva. "It has been an honor to coach such talented and dedicated players and to work alongside a coaching staff and administrative crew that are truly passionate about the sport and the success of our teams. The camaraderie and support I received made each day a rewarding experience, and I am grateful for the relationships I have built during my tenure here."
Da Silva took over the role of Director of Golf Operations and head men's coach in October 2022 and led the Leopards on a successful run. The Leopards climbed to No. 27 last spring in the Scoreboard Division III rankings.
Under her leadership, Michael Ordona and
Jason Bustos earned Division III PING All-American Honorable Mention recognition. Six Leopards earned All-SCIAC honors under her guidance, including Ordona's 2023 SCIAC Athlete of the Year award, and three Leopards picked up All-Region honors.
The Leopards finished fourth in the SCIAC in 2024 with three Leos placing in the top-10 individually. The 2023 squad also took fourth, led by Ordona's individual championship and tournament record of -12.
"I want to thank Nathalie for her time leading one of La Verne's most decorated programs and upholding the standard of excellence both on and off the course," said University of La Verne Director of Athletics Jenna Panatier. "She stepped up to the challenge of leading both squads in her final year and did so successfully. We are grateful for her dedication to the University of La Verne and wish her well in all future endeavors."
Da Silva took over as the women's golf head coach before the 2025 season and helped the squad post its best round in program history on day one of the SCIAC Championships.
"I would like to extend my deepest thanks to Dr. Panatier, whose trust and support have allowed me the freedom to lead and the resources necessary to thrive. Her belief in our vision has been instrumental in our achievements. I carry with me cherished memories and valuable lessons learned. I will miss the vibrant community and the incredible Leo spirit that embodies this university. I wish the teams all the best in their future endeavors. Remember, once a Leo, always a Leo," da Silva added.
The University of La Verne will conduct a national search for its next men's and women's golf head coach.
