CLAREMONT, CA – The University of La Verne men and women's track and field teams traveled north of sixth street to continue SCIAC action at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps's annual Rossi Relays.
The Leopards combined for 28 personal bests, 15 on the men's side and 13 for the women.
"On a warm February SoCal day, the Leopards' had a day that consisted of solid and consistent performances," said University of La Verne track and field Head Coach
Kevin Reid. "The meet was highlighted by a number of personal and seasonal best performances."
In the rarely run 3000m, Ximena Alvarado and CC Flaherty both recorded PRs finishing at 12:35.31 and 12:37.87 in the women's race, while the men recorded three of their own PRs, with Eamon Wright finishing 42nd out of 151 runners with a time of 8:51.25 and Diego Herrera (9:03.13) and Joseph Chavarria (9.04:11) following closely behind.
Madison Xie and Journee Jones led La Verne in the women's discus throw, both recording new personal bests at 31.58m and 31.06m while Ryan Benschop impressed in the men's hammer throw (24.61m) and discus (27.82). Semone Flowers finished with a 21.97 mark in the javelin.
Alec Maxwell led the Leopards in the pole vault with a height of 3.95m.
The Leopards will be back in action next Saturday, March 7th at Occidental College.
