LA JOLLA, CA — Joseph Chavarria led the Leos with a top 10 finish in the 10,000M, while the University of La Verne track and field teams recorded nine personal bests at the UCSD Triton Invitational.

"The Leopards closed out Spring Break with personal best performances and more changes to the Leopard Top 10 lists. With Spring Break limiting the roster, a small but excited Leopards team went south on back-to-back days for the annual Triton Invitational in San Diego," said University of La Verne Track and Field Head Coach Kevin Reid.
Top Performers
The team delivered a competitive showing across multiple distance and sprint events, highlighted by a top-10 finish and several strong mid-distance efforts. Leading the way was Chavarria, who turned in an impressive performance in the 10,000 meters, placing 6th overall with a time of 32:53.47.
In other distance events, Eamon Wright posted a solid 15:08.92 in the 5000 meters to finish 19th, while Finn McClure clocked 4:01.40 in the 1500 meters, placing 29th. In the steeplechase, Logan Ciszek added another strong effort with a time of 10:33.55, finishing 18th.
The 800 meters saw a pair of strong competitors. Ryleigh LaRue posted a 2:18.35 to post the fourth fastest time in program history. Zyeir Lasley-Shabete led the way on the men's side with a time of 1:57.48, finishing 37th, while
In the sprint events, Hunter Bond and Parker Elam competed in the 400 meters, recording times of 50.62 and 52.70 to finish 39th and 42nd, respectively.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Josiah Vinson, Deon Jordan, Jaden Anderson, and Towart Kahungu combined for a time of 43.52, earning a 13th-place finish and capping off the meet with a strong team effort.
Madison Xie took 34th in the discus at 99' 2" (30.24m), Jordan took ninth in the long jump with a distance of 22'0.25" (6.71m), and Luke Bentley finished 24th at 20'4.5" (6.21m).
Next Meet
The Leopards' next meet is the Pomona-Pitzer Invite on April 11th, starting at 9 a.m.
